*Seeks End To Udo Ga Achị
Chioma Ifemeludike, the African Action Congress (AAC) candidate in the coming Anambra State governorship election has condemned the supposed thuggery allegedly used by the Anambra State governor, Prof. Charles Soludo during last week’s Osumenyi bye-election in Nnewi South on Saturday, August 16, 2025.
Ifemeludike, in a statement made available to SUNDAY INDEPENDENT, expressed outrage by what she termed “the shameful display of thuggery and voter intimidation” by Sulodo during the bye-election.
She said: “Governor Charles Soludo’s so-called security outfit, Udo Ga Achị, turned what should have been a free and fair election into a circus of oppression, proving once again that they are nothing, but a political tool designed to bully and manipulate Ndi-Anambra.
“Let me be clear: Udo Ga Achị is no security force, they are state-backed thugs in uniform, and their actions in Osumenyi were a disgrace.
“Eyewitnesses saw these supposed protectors openly chanting praises for the All Progresives Grand Alliance (APGA), dancing and rejoicing when their party won polling units.
“They did not stop there. While Soludo’s government was quick to arrest native doctors for traditional practices, these same Udo Ga Achị operatives were shamelessly waving charms, making incantations, and using ‘juju’ in broad daylight.
“Some were even high on drugs and alcohol while on duty! This is not security, this is chaos, sponsored by the state.”
Ifemeludike maintained that Udo Ga Achị has done far more harm than good to Anambra.
She said: “From harassing citizens to rigging the democratic process, they have shown time and time again that their only purpose is to serve Soludo’s political agenda.
“This outfit was created as a weapon to silence opposition, and Saturday’s bye-election is proof. If Soludo can unleash these thugs to intimidate voters in a bye-election, imagine the havoc he plans for the November 8, 2025, gubernatorial election.
“Ndi-Anambra, we cannot let this man turn our democracy into his personal playground! And what was Deputy Governor Onyekachukwu Ibezim doing in Osumenyi on Election Day?
“His presence raises serious questions. Was he there to oversee this thuggery? To cheer on the Udo Ga Achị as they bullied voters? Soludo and his allies must answer for this.
“Enough is enough! Soludo has failed Ndi-Anambra repeatedly, running our state like his family business. His Udo Ga Achị must be scrapped immediately.
“No group this corrupt and unaccountable deserves to wear a uniform. We need a clean break from this mess, and I am ready to lead that change.”
Ifemeludike reminded Ndi-Anambra that she is running to be governor because the state deserves better, stressing, “I am not here to play games or bow to power. I’m here to fight for you.
“I will lead with courage, transparency, and accountability, not intimidation and juju. Ndi -Anambra, tete n’ula! (Wake up from slumber!).
“On November 8, vote AAC. Vote for me. Let us kick Soludo’s thuggery politics out of our state and build a future we can all be proud of.”
