“I have remained largely silent out of respect for our children and the legal process,” the statement reads. “However, it is important to clarify that my focus has always been on reconciliation, healing, and finding a way forward that protects the well-being and privacy of our family.”

The two-time Academy Award winner also stressed his dedication to co-parenting and the emotional toll the lengthy court struggle has had on all parties involved.

“This process has been deeply painful, but I remain committed to ensuring that the truth is upheld and that our children are shielded from unnecessary public scrutiny,” Pitt continued. “I trust the legal system will allow for a resolution that respects everyone involved, especially our kids.”

After meeting on the set of “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” in 2005, the 61-year-old married Angelina, 49, in 2014. The two parted ways in 2016, with the actress filing for divorce that same year.
