I Got PTSD – Burna Boy Explains Stage Incident at Greater Lagos Countdown

Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy has clarified his actions after an onstage encounter with a fan during the Greater Lagos Countdown 2025 event.

The incident occurred when a fan jumped onto the stage to approach the singer during his performance. Security intervened, removing the individual, while Burna Boy briefly paused and later exited the stage without explanation, leaving fans confused and disappointed.

The moment, captured in a viral video, sparked criticism on social media, with many accusing the artist of being dismissive and disrespectful to his Nigerian audience and some supporting his actions

Addressing the backlash on his Instagram story, Burna Boy explained,

It was a free show. I was supposed to do 10 minutes but performed for almost an hour. Everyone knows my rule about startling me on stage. Don’t jump on my stage like that; I got PTSD. I love you all. Happy New Year.

Despite the controversy, Burna Boy’s groundbreaking achievements continue to make headlines, including being the first African artist to have multiple albums surpassing one billion streams each on Spotify.

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, praised artists like Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, and others for making the Greater Lagos Countdown 2025 a memorable event, thanking them for their contributions to the celebration.
