This is the tale of a country that was once the admiration of the West. A country so blessed that it was fondly labelled as the country with the happiest people on earth. It is the land of the doves, the vultures and the hawks. This is the sad tale of a land called Nigeria.
In the heart of Nigeria, a land teeming with life, lived three distinct avian communities. The doves, simple and kind-hearted, sought peace and unity among themselves. Their gentle wings carried the aspirations of the common people. Nearby, the vultures, cunning and opportunistic, scavenged the remains of power, thriving on the chaos and discord. And high above soared the hawks, powerful and influential, dictating the political and economic landscape.
The vultures, drawn to the scent of authority and wealth, cunningly manipulated situations to their advantage, feeding off the scraps left behind by the hawks. The hawks, perched at the pinnacle of power, used their dominance to control resources, leaving only morsels for the vultures and nothing for the doves.
The doves, though numerous, feared the dominance of the hawks and the scheming of the vultures. Their hesitance to unite and assert their collective strength allowed the vultures to grow bolder, while the hawks tightened their grip on the nation’s riches.
But amidst this struggle, a whisper circulated among the doves—a call for unity, courage, and action. The message echoed that unless the doves shed their fear and flocked together in unison, unless they rose to claim their rightful place in governance, the vultures and hawks would continue to exploit and deplete the nation’s resources, leaving nothing for the common people.
The story concludes with a solemn reminder that unless the doves shed their fear, stand together in solidarity, and claim their stake in governance, the vultures and hawks will continue their plunder, leaving behind a barren land devoid of opportunity and prosperity for the simple, hopeful doves.
If you’re a Nigerian, ask yourself, I’m a dove, a vulture or hawk?
